Constellations - A short story

Once upon a time…

In a modern kingdom filled with a variety of people… A King and Queen ruled the land very strictly…

They had a son, he was an odd fellow… and ever since birth he was a problem to the King and Queen…

They sought to rid themselves of this "Child of Burden" and would send him to the slums...

However, unbeknownst to the King and Queen, the child began to thrive amongst the common folk… still an outcast however, he remained a shadow within the society…

Until one day, a terrible accident left him in agony… but to his surprise, a young man came to his aid… and through special techniques, he healed the child's wounds…

The Child was taken aback… never receiving kindness of any kind before, it frightened him…

And so he started to run away from the young man… however, something reached out to him… when the Child turned around… there was the young man, smiling with an outstretched hand…

From this point, the Child learned that there was something powerful in this world, Friendship.

The young man asked for the Child's name and he told him...

The young man told him his name as well… the two grew to become close friends over time…

The King and Queen eventually became aware of their Child's new ally…

One day, they decided to bring him back home…

He immediately recognized his parents and went without hesitation, but in the shadows… the young man knew they were up to no good…

The Child was special.

He held the key to bring about prosperity or ruin to the Kingdom…

Through being with the young man, that power had awoken…

The King and Queen began to manipulate the Child… causing him to spread a torrent of despair over the already suffering community…

A Great Darkness spread across the land… and Fear reigned supreme…

Concerned for his friend, the young man set out to the Castle, in order to see his friend from a time ago…

When he arrived, the Castle was heavily fortified and no one was allowed inside…

Determined to see his friend again… the young man took to the sewers and through great tribulation, he managed to emerge inside…

Carefully, he circumnavigated the guards and slipped past the security, until he finally reached his goal, the Child.

When he saw the condition the Child was in, his heart sank… his friend had been imprisoned and turned into a monster… a Beast of Wrath.

The young man began to weep for his friend… and endless flow of tears like a river flooded the young man's eyes…

When the tears finally ran dry… the young man knew what had to be done…

With great determination, he set out to free his close friend… alerting the guards in the process…

Within moments, the young man was surrounded…

Eventually, the King and Queen arrived among them…

They commended his courage, yet they despised who he was…

He was nothing but a common dog to them…

They King and Queen ordered him to be executed…

But they were too late…

The Child's heart had awoken from its never-ending nightmare…

A powerful emotion arose from within it…

Love.

The Child had grown to love his new "Brother"…

With this newly found power… he broke the chains that bound him…

No longer a Beast of Wrath, but a Herald of Love…

The Child began to emanate an aura of light…

That light spread across the Kingdom and washed away the despair…

The King and Queen were furious… they immediately ordered for the Child's execution…

But the Guards no longer would obey and quickly turned against them…

The Child loved his parents and did not want them to suffer…

So he changed them into stars and placed them in the night sky…

The Kingdom began to revere these constellations as a symbol of Hope…

And the Child became the new ruler… a ruler whose family would lead the Kingdom to Peace and Prosperity for ages to come…
